I love the shift that takes place at the end of August. A student at heart, I love the back to school season. It’s my New Year’s!
After a busy summer, including a trip to Europe and 4 amazing classes at the all-Anusara studio in Berlin, I am ready to welcome you back to yoga class. Time on my mat kept me healthy and happy during our 4 weeks of travel- I needed to release tight muscles, breathe and have some semblance of routine as we wound our way through Germany and to Prague. The end of summer is always hectic- stepping into a regular yoga routine can give you a place of solitude that you know will be waiting for you.
Due to changes in my personal and family schedule, this fall I will be teaching 1 class starting Friday, September 3:
Friday Morning
9-10:20 am
Let’s Move- at the Sunmore Ginseng Spa
There may be opportunities for the occasional evening class in Valleyview, but I need to get everyone settled into their classes (and my son into high school!) before I make any other decisions to teach. If you are looking for more Anusara style classes, Katrina is our resident Anusara expert- she offers 3 classes at Let’s Move including a Tuesday evening class that will start at 6:15 pm. See her site at www.yogawithkatrina.com for more information.
Finally, please note that the Friday morning class will be slightly shorter as the studio has scheduled a Nia class to start at 10:30- immediately after my class finishes. In order not rush everyone out after class I will be ending at 10:15 or 10:20, giving us enough time to pack up and ease our way out of the studio room. Thanks for helping me flex around this new situation.
So… welcome back! Looking forward to seeing you all soon!

Greetings to everyone!
I am sad to announce that we have had to cancel the workshop with Todd Inouye Nov 5-7 in Kamloops. Todd’s session here last fall was inspiring and I was really hoping to have him join us again. But the growth of Anusara has hit- there are 2 separate events happening in Kelowna in the fall with Sjanie and Elissa, making the Thompson Okanagan Anusara calendar a little too crowded! The challenges of abundance! We’ll be working on coordinating our schedules for future events so I’ll be sure to let you know when the next Kamloops event is scheduled.

For your info, here are the dates for the Kelowna workshops. For more info check out www.missionyogastudio.com closer to the dates.
Sjanie McInnis workshop- October 23 and 24, 2010.
Elissa Gumushel workshop- November 19,20 and 21, 2010. Elissa is the only fully certified Ansuara Yoga Instructor in B.C.
You may also want to consider attending a session in Vancouver September 10-12- Todd is hosting world class teacher Desiree Rumbagh. If you are interested in moving your practice forward this is a not-to-be missed session.
For full details about Desiree’s session click here to see the poster or here to see the Yogapod web site.
Hoping to see you at classes or workshops this fall!

I wanted to let you know about 2 opportunities that are coming up in September and November- chances to get re-inspired about your practice, experiment with new ways of doing things, and meet a great bunch of people!
Todd Inouye Returns to Kamloops- Nov 5-7
I am excited to announce that Todd will be returning as an encore to last fall’s successful and uplifting weekend of Anusara® yoga. We are finalizing details, but you can look forward to a Friday evening session, 2 Saturday sessions and 2 Sunday sessions to choose from- or join us for the whole weekend. I am very honored to bring him back and to have the opportunity to practice with him again. He has a sweet of way of sharing his passion through elegant and interesting yoga practices and heartfelt talks about the philosophy of Anusara yoga. Todd owns the Yogapod in North Vancouver. Learn more about him by checking out their web page.
Desiree Rumbagh In Vancouver September 10-12
Hosted by Todd Inouye, Desiree Rumbagh will be in Vancouver for 3 days in September. Desiree is a world class Anusara teacher – not to be missed. I attended her workshop in 2008 and had my eyes opened wide- it was incredible. I’ll be back there again this year and would love to be there with you!
Desiree Rumbagh Bio
With the ability to demonstrate some of the most difficult postures and even more amazingly… getting students to experience the same sequences, Desirée has a well-earned reputation for deepening even the most advanced practices. She does it with a sense of humor balanced with a quest for authenticity. What is most surprising is her ability to tap into a soft heart and vulnerable spaces to access these wonderful poses. Her unique ability to draw out that bright and shining light from within every student, no matter what level of yoga experience, is her gift to the world.

Hoping to see you at one or both of these events!

Welcome to solstice week! A perfect time to announce my summer schedule.

Cam will be closing off the Monday night Karma yoga for the summer so I will be teaching Greenspace Yoga (thanks Douglas for the name!) in lower Aberdeen. bonus: if the weather perks up, a quick swim is part of the deal!
Wednesday Night Yoga
I will continue to teach Wednesday night’s until I leave in July. At that time I will hand over the slot to another teacher who will do a trial run of a core and strength class during summer. I will be reassessing my schedule once I return in August.

I invite you to join me at class this week – for yoga and for a chance to support Ian Fillinger’s Race Across America to end MS.
Ian is a local man who is riding RAAM- the toughest bike race in the world. He started last Wednesday and has 12 days to officially finish his coast to coast 3000 mile ride from the west coast to the east coast of the US. I volunteered with Ian’s prep team over the past year and can tell you that this is no small undertaking for him or his support crew. To date he has ridden over 1100 miles on a few hours of sleep at a time. As a former endurance athlete , I am astounded by the heart and courage that he is putting into his commitment to end multiple sclerosis.
As a show of faith, I will be donating gross proceeds from all 3 classes this week- and will personally double your donation (to a max total of $200). I want to top up the donation I have already made to Ian, and I need your help to do it! Any “donations” over $20 will be tax receiptable- I just need your address.
Classes I teach this week!

A quick update about my Wednesday night 6:30 pm yoga class. Tomorrow, and again on June 9, Angie will again be subbing for me. In spite of best laid plans, I have to work 2 evenings over the next month at my new part time position in the world of health care/non-profit management. Enjoy her sweet teaching!

Hi everyone- I am just back from Arizona where I finished my 200 hour Teacher Training with Martin and Jordan Kirk and an amazing group of people. I am very grateful for the support of my family (they held up the fort and my mom literally paved the way for me!) AND I am very proud of my work and commitment to my studies.
Having said that, this is just the beginning! Plans are in the works for me to be in Park City, Utah in August and from there… we’ll see!
Looking forward to seeing you all in class!
